While I’m Waiting

(This was written June 26th, just didn’t get to post it til today)

Hey Y’all!
I so wish that I could update my blog more often but I don’t get Internet access enough or a lot of free time. So I didn’t get to post a lot of updates on my last blog entry I just went in detail about one talk that really spoke to my heart. So I just want to give you some updates,

On evangelism: the second week of evangelism we had our training and then we went to the beach to just had some conversations with people and brought up why we are here as much as possible. This was a practice for when we would actually start getting into conversation with people we are going to evangelize with. This past week we had another evangelize training and then we focused on praying for our coworkers and discussing ways we can serve them at work. This is important because we are here to also change the people’s life at our work. We want to show them Jesus in how we work and how we serve customers. Today is evangelism training and we will be evangelizing on the beach, so exciting! I am nervous but ready to share with people the riches of our wonderful God.
On Prayer and Praise: My favorite thing about LP so far has definitely been Prayer and Praise on Sunday nights. We worship and we also have some great reflect and prayer. This just opens up my eyes to something every single week and feel like his time has been perfect. During our reflecting time a verse I went over was 1 John 4:19 “We love each other because he loved us first”. Our reflecting questions were about learning to love all people and do you really love all people the way Christ does. This is SO convicting for me. We are all judgmental sinners, me included. When I read this verse I understand that Jesus loved us no matter what we’ve done or who we are and we need to learn to love people the way Jesus does.
On theme meetings: Our theme meeting last week was Old people!! It was so fun to flash forward 50 years and dress like it.  Our theme talk was on diversity. This was another huge eye opener that I wasn’t expecting. When people think of diversity they really don’t think of God saying we need to have diversity. But the main point of the talk was that “ Our goal is to increase your riches tonight by helping you see how the difference of others are an opportunity for riches rather than a threat to riches.” I have never thought of people not like myself in this way. People not like me have something to offer me that I might miss out if I don’t try to interact with them and that is Christ. In fact you are robbing them of their riches in Christ by not talking to them also. When we reject people, we are REJECTING CRHIST, this blows my mind. This week our theme night was animals; I was a black cat. This theme meeting was on relationships! It was actually a two-day talk by two married people on staff. This is an important talk for everyone to hear. I am just going to say some key points I got from the talk. The first thing is that the worldview is that is normal to date just to have fun and have someone. This is wrong. Dating is for marriage and you should date when you feel fully connected with God and you SEE Jesus in that person. You should date for commitment and getting more of Jesus not for the fun of being around someone though that will come with being in a relationship when you are compatible with the person. We must be content with being single before we can be content being in a relationship. So we must find complete joy in having a relationship with Jesus and when we are happiest with that he will bring a person into our life that will bring you even more Jesus. This is such an amazing thought. Another thing I took from the talk is that we don’t need to emotional invest ourselves in people we don’t intend on dating. The men’s job in the relationship is to initiate everything; the calls, texts, hugs, engagement, marriage. (Ephesians 5:23) It is the women’s job to respond so we must guard our hearts in this (Proverbs 4:23).  All of this makes me think of how much more I need of God in a relationship. Pray about these things and that you will find joy in God not a relationship. If you are in a relationship, you should still love Jesus more than you love your boyfriend/girlfriend.

And the highlight of my week was deffffff my parents coming to visit!!!! such a blessing, wish i could have spent more time with them!

A song that stuck with me this week:

“Set a fire down in my soul
That I cant contain, cant control
I want more of you God
I want more of you God”

p.s
So some people have been telling me that they have been reading my blog and it’s inspiring them and pointing them to Christ. This is so amazing to hear, but I don’t take any credit for writing for this because this is all coming from what I am learning through God. So I really hope this point’s people to Christ!

Psalm 119:11
“I have hidden your word in my heart,

That I may not sin against you.”

In Christ,

Cost everything, Worth so much more

Hey y’alll! So sorry I havent been able to work on my blog that much, We got started working so I havent had much free time to come to the coffee shop to blog! Some exciting things that have happened since I last blogged have been:
We got a FREE fried chicken lunch provided by Faith Pres Church here on Sunday with wonderful entertainment, we are so thankful for this wonderful fellowship. And we are also thankful for getting free bread from them every sunday.. we survive off of this. We have had our monday night theme meeting, our theme was CHRISTMAS! This was so much fun! Me and my roomies looked more like tacky christmas than christmas but it was a blast. Chip, the director gave an AWESOME talk about “The Cost of Following Christ”, it honestly took me days to process this talk because it was filled with sooo much great information. One of the key things I took from this was that following Jesus costs everything because you have to be able to not look back on your past and turn towards it at all. You must constantly be pointing towards him and following him (Luke 9:56-62). He demands your whole life so you must take up your cross DAILY, you must also lose concern for your old life because he demands your WHOLE life not just that one part where you sit there and pray with him or go to church for one hour on sunday (Luke 9:23). Another point Chip said is “the price is high, to remind us of His surpassing worth”. God  demands everything to protect you from treasuring things. “They will overcome it..” In Revelation 12 They overcome Satan by following Jesus FULLY even if it leads to death. Even it leads to death. Those four words are hard even for me to think about but thats the kind of attitude we all need to have because Jesus died on the Cross for our sins.
You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
Psalm 16:11
If we are competing desires:
1 timothy 6:17
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

  • Dont think you have it all together, place your trust in God, let him do the work : )
  • We dont give everything so he will give up his riches -> he FREELY gives his riches

The question Chip asked us at the end of this talk: is Christ the treasure in your life? What cost might Jesus be calling you to give up to devote yourself to him more?

This talk had SOO much more great knowledge.. if you want more of it, feel free to ask me : )

So some more fun things that happened this week, I started working last weekend, Ive worked about 6 times, its been GREAT. Its hard, but I just do alittle praying each time things get difficult or busy. I am a meat slicer in the deli at Bi-Lo and I make subs.. very different but I still enjoy meeting people and getting to tell them why I am here for the summer! One verse that gets me through the day is : Col 1:11-12  being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.

More to come later!!
Thanks for reading

God is always worthy

Hey y’all! Sorry this blog is been taking awhile for me to post. I don’t have wifi in my hotel and didn’t get a chance to post until today. So I think I am just going to give you guys a brief update of some things I have been learning because its only been six days of the two months and I have already learned sooo much!
I would just like to start out by talking about the theme for the summer here on project: Immeasurable Riches. #LP13Riches
The reference to this is Ephesians 2:6-7 “and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus so that in the coming of ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness towards us in Christ Jesus”
This is such a powerful verse and I am so blessed to be learning about Jesus’ everlasting grace over the summer. When I think of this verse, I think of how the coming of ages if referring to the future of eternal blessings with Christ. We are so blessed that we have immeasurable riches in Christ Jesus that we dont have to be looking at our wealth and our clothes for value. All our value should be placed in Christ. A verse we talked about was Matthew 13:44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.”
We should be like this merchant who went and sold EVERYTHING for heaven. We should want to have all of the riches of Christ, nothing compares to this, not even wealth in the world. This man found joy in the riches of Christ and not in the money. After reading this verse, I prayed for a heart like that, that money wouldn’t be a worry, that I would be just in rich in Christ.
I also attended a church on Sunday, Trinity Episcopal Church, that had amazing worship and a great sermon. The pastor ended his sermon with a convicting question:
Does the Lord have your heart?
-Do you pray?
-Do you rest?
-Do you love?
This was very convicting for me and helped me reflect over my life and pray about it.

Today (June 5th), was our was evangelism training day. I am soo pumped about it. Instead of going out today and actually evangelizing, we decided to reflect on the beach by watching people and praying about them. We read several verses and then had some questions to reflect on. One of the questions that really stuck out to me was: What is keeping people from Christ? This open my mind to the people around me and really just broke my heart for the people. This makes me want to be less judgmental because I want to grow to have a Christ-like mind set. Our group talked about how non-believers are on earth and it is the closest thing to heaven they will ever get, and for believers this is the closest thing to hell we will ever experience. What a game changing thought. Whenever I am going through something hard, I feel like I should understand that it is only a small obstacle and something so much bigger lies ahead for me. I am so excited and on fire to evangelize to my co-workers and on the beach.

I love absolutely everything on project, I am growing so much with the Lord and everybody is holding me accountably and I am gaining so many friendships fast. We have had two socials, one was a scavenger hunt around Myrtle Beach where we did the bernie in front of a crowd of people and took pictures of random things everywhere and we also watched an awesome movie. We have three teams on project and last night, we had our first “team time”. For our team time, our group met at the top of a parking deck and had “speed dating”. Speed dating was one of the coolest things to do because we got to spend a few minutes with each person and learn little bit about them and what God is doing in their life. We are growing so much little by little. I am so excited to see Gods plan for the rest of summer!

I will write soon!!
