Cost everything, Worth so much more

Hey y’alll! So sorry I havent been able to work on my blog that much, We got started working so I havent had much free time to come to the coffee shop to blog! Some exciting things that have happened since I last blogged have been:
We got a FREE fried chicken lunch provided by Faith Pres Church here on Sunday with wonderful entertainment, we are so thankful for this wonderful fellowship. And we are also thankful for getting free bread from them every sunday.. we survive off of this. We have had our monday night theme meeting, our theme was CHRISTMAS! This was so much fun! Me and my roomies looked more like tacky christmas than christmas but it was a blast. Chip, the director gave an AWESOME talk about “The Cost of Following Christ”, it honestly took me days to process this talk because it was filled with sooo much great information. One of the key things I took from this was that following Jesus costs everything because you have to be able to not look back on your past and turn towards it at all. You must constantly be pointing towards him and following him (Luke 9:56-62). He demands your whole life so you must take up your cross DAILY, you must also lose concern for your old life because he demands your WHOLE life not just that one part where you sit there and pray with him or go to church for one hour on sunday (Luke 9:23). Another point Chip said is “the price is high, to remind us of His surpassing worth”. God  demands everything to protect you from treasuring things. “They will overcome it..” In Revelation 12 They overcome Satan by following Jesus FULLY even if it leads to death. Even it leads to death. Those four words are hard even for me to think about but thats the kind of attitude we all need to have because Jesus died on the Cross for our sins.
You make known to me the path of life;
    you will fill me with joy in your presence,
    with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
Psalm 16:11
If we are competing desires:
1 timothy 6:17
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

  • Dont think you have it all together, place your trust in God, let him do the work : )
  • We dont give everything so he will give up his riches -> he FREELY gives his riches

    The question Chip asked us at the end of this talk: is Christ the treasure in your life? What cost might Jesus be calling you to give up to devote yourself to him more?

This talk had SOO much more great knowledge.. if you want more of it, feel free to ask me : )

So some more fun things that happened this week, I started working last weekend, Ive worked about 6 times, its been GREAT. Its hard, but I just do alittle praying each time things get difficult or busy. I am a meat slicer in the deli at Bi-Lo and I make subs.. very different but I still enjoy meeting people and getting to tell them why I am here for the summer! One verse that gets me through the day is : Col 1:11-12  being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.

More to come later!!
Thanks for reading
Molly
